Future anaesthetic clinical meetings

(Posted on behalf of Peter McLaren)

Hi,

Firstly, a repeat notice for our forthcoming difficult airway workshop on Friday, 12th June at the Allamanda education room. Come any time between 5 and 7 but please give the nursing staff a fair go at the reps between 5 and 6.

Then, on July 3rd, the meeting, in the Pindara boardroom, now within the hospital, will be on “Advances in perioperative fluid management”. Nathan Virtue from Baxter, the makers of Plasmalyte solutions 148 & 156, will give a presentation followed by Anna Raymond from Nutricia, the makers of ‘PreOp’, a preoperative carbohydrate drink. If time allows, we can also discuss whether current fluid fasting restrictions are too strict and need to be updated.

On Friday, August 14th, in the Pindara boardroom, Covidien rep, Peta Crompton will give a presentation on the INVOS system of cerebral oxygen monitoring. There are currently two machines in service at Allamanda. Studies, experience and reports from hospitals have come out since our last review of these devices.

Further notices prior to the meetings will be sent.

Cheers,

Peter McLaren
